'Cause he wanted her alone? 'I thought you'd be the most discrete.' should read 'I thought you'd be the most discreet.' It's a frequent error on Lit.

Discrete is correct.
Discrete becomes discretion (which is right).
Discreet becomes discreetion (which is nonsense).
