I pulled myself together. “It’s just been a weird day. I’ll tell you all about it when I get home. I’m heading there now.”
“Okay, baby. I’ll have dinner ready when you get here. Anything special you want?”
“No, whatever you want is fine with me,” I said, the thought of trying to eat making my stomach churn.
“Okay, then I’ll see you in a few minutes. Oh, and honey?” she said.
“Yeah?”
Her voice dropped. “I missed you today. I couldn’t get you off of my mind. Hurry home.”

Anonymousalmost 13 years agowell, this doesnt really sound all that different from the first time they left, only from the other point of view, but still, definitly one of your better chapters, in a word, breathtaking. (even if its really short)
