Very enjoyable ... but

I'm loving this story so far, it's a very enjoyable read ... but his reactions at the end of both of the chapters are just insane, both times he just lashes out at her for very little reason. The first time it was more believable, the second starts to strain that believability.

I love this!!! ❤️❤️❤️

I have never been hooked on a story on Lit for a very long time and this is one of the few stories that brought me back here!!! I love the dynamics between the two. I just hoped that Maxen would soon realize that he loved Kerin and Kerin loved him (and only him) soon before he does something stupid. Please make this story longer! I dont know if I read this right but you're only doing a four part series for this story?? Aaawww... I was hoping to read chapters and chapters about their life together. Their children and how Maxen will realize that his bride only loved him all through her life. Please do continue this series!!! If this was a book I'm probably one of the first person to buy this LOL

In defense of Maxxen

She cut him deeply when she rejected him. She didn't do the old "it's not you it's me thing" or anything to let him down gently when she kicked him to the curb but treated him like he was dirt beneath her feet.

We have insight into her character that he does not. To have the betrothal broken off in such a callous manner left him vulnerable to the next woman. I doubt, for males, emotional literacy was the order of the day way back when so he is lashing out to protect himself, as anger is the only acceptable emotion for a male to feel.

In defense of Kerin

Their betrothal was made when she was 12, was not by her choosing, and was a typical political arrangement, not love. While two children might have shared some pleasany moments, its profoundly stupid for someone unschooled in emotion to expect love or constance from her. His willingness to blame her for everything when he knows women have no power and doesnt believe they should have it is cowardice that cries for some character growth. Hes acting like one of those dumbass peasants that puts everything to bewitchment and superstition rather than a lord expecting to achieve great things. Hopefully we'll see some of that in the remaining two chapters beforeKerins true story comes out rather than after.

I love the way you can put so much info into such a small space and not disturb the rhythm of the story. Truly a pleasure.

Maxen is being a bit dense right now. He'd be spared some pain if he just tried talking things out. You know, the carrot instead of the stick. But it's still excellent.

I'm quite sure now that Kerin did not infact kill her brother and instead her young, handsome guard is him in disguise. Regardless, she had to kill a boy his age, so that's blood on her hands.

Very good chapter!

The rational side of me says I should be making a disapproving face over him giving her a kitten and suddenly that makes up for him getting an alleyway beej. But the irrational side of me doesn't care. Love it, love it, love it. Don't care - Love it. <3

And all the historical tidbits make me squee.

NEXT CHAPTER!

I just love this story

I am just loving this story, love the writing and the characters. I wait with bated breath for the next chapter, checking daily just in case and I have re-read the chapters many times. Just love it.

Erm...nobody, not nobody, was attacking Kerrin

She is the martyr/heroine of this tale. We all luvs her! I think the other anon was just responding to the I Hate Maxxen post.

You did make a cogent argument, I just didn't see any comments here that would qualify as an attack on Kerrin. She felt compelled to hurt him to protect others, including Maxxen himself, sacrificing her own happiness to do so. That makes Kerrin the bestest!

She wants good marriage..but can´t be with him....so..if she had terrible marriage, its ok to stay? ...no. because he hates her........................she says she has now no other choice(at the end) but I don´see there any other options just from the beggining :D

But I still am gonna read the next chapter :D

another great chapter

I love how complex their personalities are, and the chemistry between then is scintillating.
