Very appropriate use of that 8 minutes + five lol.

I think getting an editor would help. It's well-written enough but I think an editor could help point out things that don't quite follow through or make sense. I mean, his friend comes in and starts about a monster that he took out last summer in front of a guy she doesn't know. She sees him stop him from going into the magic room which to the outsider would seem like a hint he doesn't know he's a mage. So, wouldn't she watch what she said in front of the guy? Then please take a shower. Jeez! lol

I am really liking your characters and I'm intrigued by Roger's 'curse'. I can't help wonder if it's really a curse or a special ability that he can learn to control. I do wish the chapters were a little longer though.
