I dislike stories written in the first person..but the blatant gender bias at the beginning of the story was far more unnerving.

I like the story you tried to tell. Unfortunately, you lost me several times with having the Narrator describe you telling you what you will do. I gave up before the halfway mark.

I suggest you consider re-writing this using dialogue, rather than narrating what was said to who by whom.
