"Yeah and Cole's a good guy, but he's no Duncan Bryant."

"She said no to me." I admitted. "After Derek, after everything, she said she couldn't be with me."

"Alex is incredibly good at reading people. She knows you Duncan, through and through. She might have said no, because she didn't fully believe in you asking her."

"What do you mean?"

"You know what I mean. Wasn't there another woman? Another gorgeous brunette that once held your heart." I nodded. "Alex knew you weren't ready Duncan. The question is, will you ever be?"

I was at the gym, punching the bag. I was sweating, so much on my mind. Hitting the bag always helped, but not today. I heard footsteps and looked to the door.

"Oh Cole." I said noticing my friend in his suit. "You came to work out?"

"No Duncan." He said without a hint of a smile. "I came to talk."

"What's going on?" I asked.

"Stay away from Alex." He said coldly.

"What?"

"I asked you, now I'm telling you, stay away from her." He took a few very aggressive steps towards me. "You had your shot with her. Now if you think I'm going to toss mine away, you're dreaming."

"Cole." I said trying to calm him.

"Don't call her, don't text her, don't talk to her, don't even think about her. She's mine Duncan, and if you think I can't see through your nice guy act, you're dead wrong."

"Cole it's not an act. You're my friend, I'd never do anything to hurt you."

"Tell me you don't love her." He told me getting even close to me. "Look me in the eye right now and tell me you don't love her." We stood there, quiet. Two men in a gym. We had worked together, fought alongside one another, but never had the tension been this high between us. "You can't do it can you?" He smirked. "Last warning Duncan. Stay away from her... you won't like what happens if you don't." He said as he walked out of the gym.
