OMG

My heart is breaking. I don't care if there is no stroke content. I am in friggin tears. All on one page.

The details are implied. They were sanding the floor, and rather than take a break she drove to the hardware store. A bad accident.

A terrible beginning, a horrible ending.

Thank you. 5*

Powerful

The most emotionally griping story I'd read in a while. I don't think I could have written this. This story brought too many emotions to the front. I couldn't imagine enduring this. I hope I don't have to say goodbye to my wife for decades to come.

swingerjoeswingerjoealmost 8 years ago
Damn

You got me. It is far from easy to stir up that much emotion in such a short story, but you did it -- and did it flawlessly. I can imagine this wasn't easy to write. I thank you for enduring that process to share this gift with us.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 8 years ago
i'm sorry for your loss

your story of love and loss grabbed my heart.

I have been grieving for the loss of what I thought I had. I still live with her. She no longer loves me.

Gordon Lightfoot says it for me:

You'll know that I'm just trying to understand

The feeling that you lack

I never thought I could feel this way

And I've got to say that I just don't get it

I don't know where we went wrong

But the feeling's gone

And I just can't get it back

There is only one word that is good enough for a story like this.

BEAUTIFUL.

Nice job

Hope that was fiction, and if not, sorry for your loss. Great emotive writing in extremely tightly written prose. Hope your muse gives birth to more and longer tomes.

Raw emotion

Parent , spouse , children , even a beloved pet.

They say that to grieve is part of the Human condition , maybe it is, but it is surely the most painful of all.

Thanks.

What is this?

Is this Hallmark cards or an erotic story site? Just a bunch of mush that reads like an obituary. Maybe you should post it at storiesaboutgrief.com

Huh?

Nicely done, very compelling story of a relationship ended too soon. But this is Lit-EROTICA, not the Oprah Winfrey Network. If you must do sappy, put it in Romance.

The best story of love!

I was overwhelmed as I read this story. The emotion it was written with was the best I have read. You can feel the love he felt for his wife. Your writing is a success when you make the reader feel the emotion of the character. Very well done!

An emotional tale

One would have to be heartless and ruthless to bash this story. I feel sorry for that kind of person, but if that's how they feel, well there isn't much I can say. You either feel the pain and sadness or you don't. Good short story Slirpuff. Thanks for the contribution. (signed ML)

I'm a grown man. Grown men aren't supposed to shed tears. You bastard...I loved it.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 8 years ago
Been there, done that

I went through this and still alone after 4 years, I'm still young, if 50 is, and I know I will never love or been loved again, but still wake up everyday praying that somehow my future be brighter or that my end should be quick and sooner, I just want the pain to go away. Thank you for this beautiful story.

6 Months and Two Years

Thanks for the tear jerk damn it!

This happened to me and for 6 months I would involuntarily collapse, my knees give out and I would cry so hard I thought I would die and this went on for 6 months. Two years before I could even have lunch and a decent conversation with a women and five years before I felt comfortable having sex again...making love - don't know?

Thanks but damn Slirp, can we get to your usual writing and YES - This story was outstanding.

Thanks,

Great A story that brings out emotion that real. on here is rare and with this one you nailed it

FD45FD45almost 8 years ago
Your stories used to be far different

There was high drama based on flawed people making mistakes. Sometimes they doubled down on them, sometimes they tried to fix things.

High emotion. High action dialogue. Clashes of personalities and value judgments.

It was amazing.

These days...how do I put this...9 out of 10 times we get a story put in the wrong category and instead of conflict or drama, we get maudlin crying over lost loves.

You did that once very well. Heartstrings tugged.

I miss the old Slirpuff stories however.

Heart wrenching. There is lots of grit in my eyes.

carvohicarvohialmost 8 years ago
Aggravating!

Regardless of the circumstances one always has to go first. Sometimes at night I come in real late, if I can't hear my wife breathing I'll deliberately wake her up. The sound of her angry voice and the feel of her tiny fists are so comforting.

Now don't do this any more.

So is this Slirpuff 's subtle way of advertising to his legion of female fans that he's newly single and ready to mingle ?

Great gimmick if so. Personally, I liked the story better when he wrote it the first time ( A Little Bit of Death' ).

Something besides sex

You can get more emotions from writing about things that happen in the real world than a cheating wife clucking her husband...

Need to have a separate category strictly for cluck stories.

Marvelous!

Thank you for this beautiful rare gem - a genuine loving wife story in Loving Wives. So many readers wish this category would have more stories like this that fit the meaning of the words loving wives versus other stories rampant with themes of infidelity or cheating, betrayal and cuckoldry. 5 *'s

@Anonymous, one day I hope you'll be able to finish this story and that you can think of your wonderful wife and have your heart smile instead of cry. I buried two wives to lung cancer. I was with them both at their last breath. That idiot at the top with anonymous (just like booze which gives you liquid courage) is a horse's ass. I would bet he or she is single as no man or woman would want to have anything to do with "it". I choked up big time at this story. Keep it up.
