Click here"Good, pampered, spoilt ... not only did I get fresh meat I got my fill of yummy vegies too," I glance at Micah and smile as I lift my arms above my head and stretch. I lift my chin and arch my neck as I tilt my head back before smiling ruefully at Micah.
"I was grumpy before, now I feel nice and calm and relaxed." I say and rub the side of my face on Micah's pillow.
"Being well fed does that," Micah says wryly.
"Being petted and made to feel safe and protected does it too," I tell him and blink sleepily.
"How is your hip feeling?" Doc asks.
"Not as sore but still a bit stiff," I answer, I take a deep breath but can't stop the yawn that escapes me.
"Justin turn the light off," Micah says as Dwayne covers me with a blanket. I open my mouth to protest but shut it without voicing my complaint, as I know they are just trying to look after me. I glance towards the doorway as I hear familiar steps on the gravel outside.
"Wade's coming," I say as the light is switched off.
"Don't worry, I'll be right here." Micah says as he rests a hand lightly on my shoulder. I hear the screen door open then close and tense as footsteps sound in the hallway.
"Blown a light bulb or something?" Wade asks as he walks into the dark room.
"Rosy has had a big day and is just about to doze off," Micah tells him.
"I'll just sit over here out of the way then," Wade says quietly as a chair squeaks slightly. "I'm only here long enough for your sister to use the shower and get a few things from her room she claims she can't live without."

mrpervy46over 11 years agoExcellent as usual, honey. I think "popparazzi" made an interesting comment in part anyways. If this were made into a series who would play what part can anyone think of anyone. How about Dakota Fanning as Rosy. Everyone put their thinking caps on.
cantfightfateover 11 years agoMy only criticism is that you stop your chapters in a strange place. Why not end this chapter with them turning off the light and start the next with Wade coming in? They way you leave things isn't really a cliffhanger but it's not closure either. It would be more satisfying to feel like the chapter is done and this set of events is done, at least for now. I always leave your chapters feeling slightly annoyed.
As I said, I'm enjoying your story a lot. If anything could improve it, cleaner chapter breaks would be it.

Anonymousover 11 years agoGimlet, big cats aren't native to Australia but there have been "sightings" for years. There have been no official sightings so most are written off as possibly escaped exotic pets or false reports generated by kooks. (Really, google it).
Mygypsy seems to have used these sightings in her world building. In "Enter the Cat" there's the "crazy old bushy" who swears there are black panthers in Mount Lindsay National Park and Rosy reports the cattle killings were done by an "escaped exotic large cat" or cats.
When I first started reading these stories, I thought that bit of world building was clever as hell. I still do.
