I really really love this story, but it also makes me want to go into a long raging rant about parents loving their children unconditionally! Kuddos to the author for invoking such a strong reaction, keep it going, can't wait to see what happens next. Hoping Corys brothers don't turn on him too...

Geez. The tone of wild card is so different from WLM. I'm not sure I can put my finger on why. I guess maybe I'm used to all the feels I get from the flirty little awkward exchanges between the boys and this story has gone so much deeper. I AM adjusting to the change, a transition eased by your beautiful writing, but it's definitely something to get used to.

As for the coming out thing: I am so grateful for the complexity of your coming out stories. How when Efrain came out, he was accepted but also teased through something that was so hard for him (closeted had become such a fundamental part of his machismo and identity, and the family unceremoniously stripped hose things away). And now Cory coming out so nonchalantly. It's almost as if he was pretending to himself that his family was the Garzas-- a bunch of folks just waiting for him to come clean. I find everything that happens next very believable--the mothers betrayal, the surfacing of daddy's dormant racism, Corys comatose reaction. It's all very well done and super hard to go through with him as a reader.

I trust you as a writer so I also look forward to some lightness just because I'm so charmed by the shenanigans of these boys. and you do shenanigans and miscommunication and naughty sex all so well.

Looking forward to more.

Great job.

Incredible authenticity

You did an amazing job of capturing the painful, heart wrenching experience so many young people have when they gather the courage to come out to their families. It was horrifyingly authentic, so much so that I cried for Cory.

dayne you have a gift for creating compelling word picture that are descriptive far beyond mere words. Looking forward to what comes next, as always with your stories.

Thank You,
