the ending made it almost a cliche, and it really wasn't necessary... the story stands on its own; it's incredibly erotic

There's no way the ending ruins the story. I was enjoying the narrative, but having some difficulty accepting the turn of events (particularly Rick and Mandy's newfound intimacy); the twist fixes this, leaving the story open to a follow-up should she confess the dream to Mandy. Nice one!
