despite her being engaged to a guy she'd been with for 5 years.

I got as far as the above and realised this would be nothing but a cheating story and not worth reading. CHEATING is NOT romantic.

Not romantic at all, should be in erotic couplings. Also, problems with tense and view point. Get an editor!
