Cheating makes for great drama and fab lit fodder. In prosaic, amoral reality, it's Nature and the Universe pointing to relationships of questionable compatibility, usually born of "satisficing" in mate selection, instead of "optimizing."

Commitment yields marital longevity, regardless of quality.

"Optimizing" compatibility makes for marital satisfaction and prevents all the hand-wringing on this site.

High compatibility unions lead to commitment and fidelity, not the other way around.

Without the other drama, should Shannon and Mark have been together anyway?

What's the end game? Marital Longevity, Optimal Marital Satisfaction or just "not cheating?"

Great story, near perfect ending. MC was VERY lucky that Shannon got in touch w/ him w/ all her cheating evidence, or he might have gotten royally screwed. As it was he royally screwed up the cunt. rk

A good solid burn through giving them what they want, which is the essence of comedy. Very efficient story too.
