A good solid burn through giving them what they want, which is the essence of comedy. Very efficient story too.

Great story, near perfect ending. MC was VERY lucky that Shannon got in touch w/ him w/ all her cheating evidence, or he might have gotten royally screwed. As it was he royally screwed up the cunt. rk

raspberry1raspberry1about 2 months ago

Cheating makes for great drama and fab lit fodder. In prosaic, amoral reality, it's Nature and the Universe pointing to relationships of questionable compatibility, usually born of "satisficing" in mate selection, instead of "optimizing."

Commitment yields marital longevity, regardless of quality.

"Optimizing" compatibility makes for marital satisfaction and prevents all the hand-wringing on this site.

High compatibility unions lead to commitment and fidelity, not the other way around.

Without the other drama, should Shannon and Mark have been together anyway?

What's the end game? Marital Longevity, Optimal Marital Satisfaction or just "not cheating?"

The story was okay, but man... the "talking in song" bit was butt clenching cringe. Don't ever do that again.

This was a great story! I loved how Anne schemed to get a divorce from Mark and take the house, the money in the bank, and the 401k but Mark had beat her to the punch and he finally divorced her in three years on the grounds of abandonment. He and Shannon were happy with each other. Anne had lost CJ and she did not get any of the money from Mark that she planned to get. She learned that she could not leave him because he was already gone. Five stars!!!!!

AnonymousAnonymous4 months ago

Newford9b, the word is 'disdain', not 'distain'.

AnonymousAnonymous4 months ago

She still would get half if not more. You know she wouldn't just sign the divorce unless she got half so this story is a bit too much fantasy without enough reality added in.

AnonymousAnonymous5 months ago

Umm pretty aureus she can get a court order to have funds returned (her 50%) and a warrant issued. And even if he disappears, he can't resurface or get hit with serious fines and other penalties. Yes he can sell the house. No he can't just donate the furniture. Well this is fiction...

A different type of story. The wife that complained that her husband worked too much & ignored him then searched for an asshole to fill his place lost everything she gained from the husband- & the boy toy. She was going to leave him & took the gutless way out, but he was "already gone", 4 stars Bob

Guess Mark didn't wait long before starting up a family his new girlfriend. Kind of a goofy story IMHO, but it was kind of nice to see Anne get burned before she could shit on him.

jflindersjflinders8 months ago

I thoroughly enjoyed it until the last paragraph. Then the logic all fell apart. There was no way on the facts of the story that Mark could have divorced Anne on the grounds of abandonment as a way to keep all of the assets.

Quite an amusing little tale of pre-emptive striking, however I find it rather amusing to read the comments from "Anonymous" about this and that is/was wrong, can/can't be. folks it's a story , apiece of FICTION, a tale from the imagination of a talented person, something to be enjoyed, not torn to ribbons or th author castigated. What has he/she done to you to be the target for your distain? Could you do better, if so, then write one yourself

It was a decent story, but nothing special. The ending was rather stupid and drug it down even more, although several mistakes in how divorce works started that descent much earlier.

@Marrity Re: Quitting his job - I'm sure that's true in real life, and as a recovering Reality Nazi, in the past I probably would have ding this for that also, but these stories exist in their own reality. In any case, I've seen other stories where the wife quits her job to get more alimony, so, "good for the goose, good for the gander!"

MarrttyMarrttyover 1 year ago

Luked the story. But divorce does not work like this. Quiting your job: they will just deduce your income based on your last two working years income and order you to pay. So the quiting your job thing is BS.

Legally, this divorce for abandonment is bullshit because he's the one who left and, even when you divorce for abandonment, you still have to try to serve the other party. That's simple due process. But it's a fun story anyway.

The tidobits

What I love about these stories are the tidbits that get dropped here and there, and you need to read carefully to catch them

For example:

"He left only a single share of stock in a company that made cheese."

The reference to squirrel jokes brought back memories of High School days, when squirrel and elephant jokes where the rage

..

Great story

Much appreciated

Thank you.

What a great BTB story. When Shannon gave Mark a heads up on what Anne was doing by cheating with CJ it was all over but the shouting, and with that knowledge Mark took all of the steps to protect himself leaving her the total sum of $3.11. For Anne like so many cheating bitches she listened to all of the wrong people didn't pay attention and got exactly what she asked for, a divorce and deserved, a big fat nothing. 5/5

Abandonment?

He can't file under abandonment, when he's the one that left. And it doesn't matter if he sold the house and cleared out the bank before the divorce, she would still get half. If he has filed for divorce, then when they go before a judge, it won't go well for him. Even if he hid the money, he will be on the hook for half of the known assets when he left.

What?

This story had to have been written by somebody dreaming. Things just don´t happen the way you wish. He pays the mortage but she works to make a house a home so they both hold equal value in there. This I saw happen a long time ago. The guy quit his job so he wouldn´t have to pay alimony. Well , looks like you´re going to have to get a job to start paying her share of everything you got rid off. the bank also has records of what was in there before you started preparing for this divorce. Remember, she has a judgment against you. she can come back and take whatever you have until shes paid back all you tried to steal from her. Thats real life. I know this is fiction, but please try to make it belivable. at least a little bit.

I Used To Have A Tee Shirt

That had Wile E. Coyote holding the coyote up by the throat and saying "Beep, Beep. Your Ass!" Just for the nay sayers again I'm going to assume that SS06 situated this story in our home state of Michigan. So in this case I do know some of the law at least as it was written and interpreted some decades ago. She took up with another guy and filed for divorce. Before she filed I emptied the checking account, bought some things with the money and canceled the credit cards before she could run them up and since I saw this coming I had seven uncashed paychecks set aside. I didn't have to pay alimony, ended up with the house, my car and custody of two little girls under the age of 10. She ended up marrying a child molester and lost visitation with my girls. So, who came out ahead? I think the girls and I did, the ex got what she deserved. There is an old saying, something about who lives well lives best. Now that I've read three great stories in a row, laughing almost the entire time, when my chest quits hurting I think I'll call it a night. After all it's 03:06 in the morning. Thanks, again SS06. Signed: BTW

re: typical

spoken like a true cuckold. There is no excuse for cheating. If you don't what to be there get a fucking divorce. We are bombard everyday, women demand equal rights, but when divorce and cheating is involved. Then it becomes more about what he has than, what he did. And to me, it's morons like you that have started mens down fall. Marriage is a battle at it's best, compromise and communication are important. But keeping true to yourself is just as important because that's why they feel in love in the first place. Educated or not, no woman what's a pussy (not including lezbo's) and that's what men have become.

somewhatniceguysomewhatniceguyover 6 years ago
typical

male perspective; guy, too good, wife, well, waiting to cheat; when women cheat, they don't seek redemption, their cheating is the redemption for them. All that about rubbing it in her face with another beauty by his side....naah that doesn't happen, not all too often. There's always a reason for a woman to cheat, but with men all they need is a little space. Usually when caught, at least among educated, gentrified people, woman is usually defiant. This is the price you pay for a highly individualistic society; there's just no accountability on the part of the individual towards the community and thus family breaks. Because modern society is all about individual freedom, and individual freedom is all about 'loneliness' eventually. This western cushy life, me, my wife, and my kids, and only postcards for my parents is what is ruining western families. Community is the key. Plus the stupid law, which no longer considers cheating an offence.

Divorce Laws

People are always sighting divorce laws in their comments, but they forget that not only is this fiction, but it is an alternate ,or parallel universe of the writers creation with possible different laws to what we have and know in our Real World. So to quote law and say what would happen to them really is a waste of time and effort. It's not real, don't expect it to follow real life as we know it. Also to say that he would be arrested by the judge to enforce a payment order, he would have to be where that could happen. He may not have to be in the courtroom in order for the decree to be finalized,he could even have done a name change to make it harder to find him or even have left the country,or both.

Re : He divorced me for abandonment

You are wrong. Once he moved to another state, and gained residency, he could easily file and be granted a divorce for abandonment with minimal effort.

Using Florida and my divorce as an example:

We were married, basically broke up and went our separate ways without filing for divorce. After a couple of years I decided I wanted a divorce.

The entire process took about thirty days with minimal legal help. After filing for divorce, I had to run an announcement in a local paper where I "thought" she was currently living for four weeks, and had to show proof of the announcement with a copy and receipt showing that I had paid for the announcement.

Once the announcement ran the time limit, a court date was set, I went in front of the judge, showed my proof of attempting to contact my soon to be ex, and the judge approved the divorce to be final. I had copies of the final divorce in my hands less than an hour after the hearing.

There is nothing illegal in the process, there would be no warrants for anyone's arrest, and neither spouse would have any claim to anything from the other, once the divorce is granted.

Yes, it really is that simple to get a divorce in some states.

He divorced me on the grounds of abandonment

You can't file for divorce citing abandonment, when you are the one doing the abandoning. She may have emotionally abandoned him, but she was still there. He's the one that left, remember?

And just because he did that loving wives cliche of hiding all the money, doesn't mean she's not legally still entitled to half of it. It doesn't matter if he hid his money before or after filing for divorce, she'll still get awarded a settlement. If a judge orders him to pay and he refuses, he'll see the inside of a jail cell. His only option is to leave the country, and stay gone. If he comes back, he'll be facing an arrest warrant for contempt.

The Non-Cheater Wins!

I like any story where the cheaters lose and the non-cheaters win. Cheaters always think that they are smarter than everybody else and I enjoy when they get their comeuppance.

A SS06 story will always have a mustang or 2 or 3, a chewing-gum process server, a stupid, stupid cheater and a non-cheating husband that wins in the end (including getting the new, better girl). Why read his stories if they are going to cause you to leave such nasty comments and disparage the author?

When I come upon stories that I do not like, I just don't read that author again. It is not the authors fault that I don't like or agree with his stories.

Please also remember that fiction is "The category of literature, drama, film, or other creative work whose content is imagined and is not necessarily based on fact"

Thank You for a good, entertaining story.
