I enjoyed the interplay, the give-and-take, the doubting and needing inside the mind of this woman as she found herself re-engaging (and almost dis-engaging again) with this friend. The story built, as the trajectory of erotica almost demands, to a predictably passionate conclusion...but the last few paragraphs took us under the skin of the woman in a refreshing, beautiful way. Just as in the best lovemaking, my favorite part of the story came in the afterplay, after the sex subsided: It was the paragraph that began, "Still simmering...."
