The captain walks in the engine room, finding his bearded, male mechanic fucking Kaylee on top of the engine. Captain asks the bearded mechanic about the fixes, the bearded mechanic spins a bunch of shit. Kaylee sings out with a 'that's wrong, it's...[her explanation]', common-sense, she knows what she's talking about, the only reason she was fucking bearded mechanic was to get close to the Firefly engine, ['cuz it's so cool]. Captain fires bearded mechanic on-the-spot, hires Kaylee as mechanic on-the-spot. The rest is history.
