As a story its premise is good and there is a lot of potential. It just needs a little more character, more history of the son and mothers relationship, don't be afraid to put in more details as it does seem rushed in places.

But practice makes everyone a better writer, keep at it and read other stories too so you can pick up on things. If people send you nasty or hurtful reviews then ignore them they are not worth your time. Keep at it.
