it felt a bit rushed once they began to be intimate. If you would have developed their characters a bit more, and let them explore their backgrounds. When people meet, and get to know each other, they ask questions about their past, where they're from, and in the case of two people +/-40, there's going to be some history to explore.

You had in mind to drop the Seals surprise, but that could still have been done. It's not unusual for someone to be reticent about their military history, you certainly could have invented some plausible reason for Persephone to wait share the Seals history.
