Your comments on the continuity errors are absolutely on target. My apologies for the poor attention to detail. RE the timeline, I orginally chose 2 years and then decided that didn't hold water, so I changed it to 1. Clearly I missed all the instances that needed changed. I hope other readers can overlook those errors and enjoy the story in spite of them.

Liked the format, the way it was written and the story. A friend of mine thought he wanted a new woman he met, but saw his ex wife out with a guy one nite and really hasn't been the same after. You can have anything you want sometimes, but never everything you want. Thanks.

The plot was excellent and the outcome pretty good [Bill got away with it - not realistic but that is the author's right]. The shallow cheating ex-wife deserved it.

Other than the acknowledged continuity issues, this story was excellent. The husband's understated response was absolutely sublime. Very creative.

I personally could not take that road for revenge, I'd be too angry to think that clearly. I wish that he at least had contacted Bill's wife to let her know, but your explanation was well done. In a sense, this wasn't really revenge as Scott apparently did not intend to mary Lauren when he came up with his unique solution. A very appropriately named story. This was a really nasty bit of revenge. The sad thing is that the woman is so self centered that she thinks her husband is really going to want her back. He shows her no emotional connection for a year and has a hot babe he is sleeping with and she thinks he's going to want to get back together with the dope that asked to keep her affair going on the side? How clueless is she? He used her own foolishness and vanity against her, souring her little affair and then isolating her. He was really cruel but he really just let her be herself.

I did something somewhat similar with my first wife after I discovered her cheating. She fully admitted it on her own and was brazen enough to tell me it was my fault because I was gone so much out of town, (Railroad Engineer) and that I didn't give her enough attention. it may not be revenge as one normally sees it, but it went beyond that. yes, she was put through the proverbial hoops, 1 year and no other men (presumably women too). there was the effort to comply and he pulls the carpet right from under her and she goes DOWN. an unspoken Thank You for her, opening him to other possiblities. that certainly worked with lauren. those efforts for her got her nothing. in all this, she SHOULD have had to apologize to Bill's wife, in person. Good manners and screw with with Bill. Maybe some humiliation for her too? she LOST, and he found something that had been lost/taken from him.

Well, for a guy that was totally, emotionally and romantically in love with his wife...you had him well past reasonably cool and stable. The pain of betrayal (I have unfortunately experienced it) is so totally devastating to the ego, pride and self confidence that it is virtually unbearable to try and function day to day; however, our guy seems to have managed! As much as I disliked her selfish decisions to first cheat, 2nd admitted to enjoying it more than her husband and third - actually wanting to keep her lover for sex and hubby just because (?), I did have sympathy for her in the end. I loved it, lol. it actually reminded me of something that happened with me a few years back. i wasn't married or anything, but it was with a girlfriend i had since high school. we were together for 10yrs, we started dating when i was a freshman. anyways she cheated on me and i was hurt, but i don't cry or let stuff like that get me down and punkish like most stories, lol. we are still friends to this day and she constantly tries to "get back together." anyways, i love the story. many punkish people may think a man wouldn't do that, but it does happen. i knew he was gonna still get a divorce at the end of the whole thing. great work man. I made a long comment last time as a nonny mouse. I was the railroad engineer. Waiting a few years to get your shit together and getting completely over loving your cheating spouse does one a world of good because you can keep yourself from losing everything. One can find other things you like to do to replace that attention you once gave her. Good story. I almost stopped reading it, but decided to hang in there. Glad I did. Just one thing, she claimed she cheated for one year hence the one year pennance, but elsewhere in the story it is stated that she cheated for over two years. He even said so to her towards the end. These little inconsistencies annoy me and any decent editor would help you avoid them.

They say the best revenge is living well. He is doing that. All the collateral suffering he subjected her to (or rather, what she accepted upon herself) was icing on the cake. A year of regret, loneliness, worry and introspection is quite a sentence. Funny thing is, it appears that she learned a very valuable lesson, in the end.
