we all know that an advanced civilisation in another dimension of course would know all about us.. after all "advanced" means they know more than us

Who got the job of deciding who was an "extremist"? I wouldn't trust anyone who wanted that job and I sure as hell wouldn't give them the power to "exterminate" anyone.

...that a world government would come about by force, and wouldn't care what the ordinary citizen thought. You wouldn't "give" them the power, they would TAKE it.

Have you seen the movie "Equilibrium", talldarkfellow? The governmental forces there weren't GIVEN the power to exterminate people, they simply TOOK it and imposed their will.
