I really liked this story, you write outside the box it seems. I'd like someone to write about emotional cheating where the wife has a "dear friend" hanging around all the time. No sex just around ALL THE DAMN TIME, would make an interesting story.

This is wonderful. It’s the absurdly positive and cooperative attitude of our hubbbie, who send up the whole Vick silliness with his “service with a smile” mockery. As a sly satire, this may be the best. 5.

It’s because he’s an emotionless joke robot with no more feeling than a wooden leg! It’s a cute read as a satire or a joke, but no matter what the wife says, all he can do is come back with sarcasm or jokes. This type of writing is to show that the husband is so obviously superior in intellect to his wife that he can spend all day riffing his amazing jokes to her serious statements, but believe me, that gets old fast.

The wife is the only one in this tale with any feeling. She would be smart to get out.

I know it’s just a story and not meant to be serious in any way, but reading some of the comments here shows me that the joke was lost on much of the audience. Most of these guys just want blood, and only female blood at that. As the readership takes these stories seriously, then in that vein, I find that the protagonist is an unfeeling asshole, and the wife should run as fast as she can.

Great little story about a witless cheater. Surely did garner a lot of comments. Got your folks saying a little stray off the matrimonial path isn't that big of a deal. Then there are the others that way that if you stray, then you pay. I side with the latter group completely. I take my marriage vows literally, and very seriously. I expect the same of my wife. If she wants to wander, she needs to divorce me first. I believe that Mrs.26th feels the exact same way about me. We have been happy for eight years now, and I see no reason for that not to continue. WDMC, you are one of the best.

In a ''kharmonic'' world, she would have children who married and gave her grandchildren. In that universe, one of the spouse's in her children's marriages would object to the wanderings of a spouse in those Elysian fields.

Since she lacks the strength or the honesty to admit she killed their marriage, he will have to move out, forcing the sale of the house and their final breakup.

I feel wifey was a bit thick, and have never been comfortable with the notion that the cheating wife doesn't want a divorce. I think your character said it best when he noted that she must have wanted a divorce, because she was cheating.

Maybe she just didn't want the drama, or didn't believe in marital fidelity and wanted to play around for awhile....maybe with several men...before settling down into a nice quiet rest of her life. Well, that was stupid. Risky, too. But as much as anything, it indicates that she'd simply never outgrown her high school mentality.

As someone who went through a painful divorce I just couldn't get around the cavalier attitude. It was well written but waiting a month before confronting her then the lack of emotion just isn't my thing.
