Even a fantasy has to be a little believable.

for a story about a stakeout. The unbelievable part is that trained police officers would leave a person they are protecting completly alone and go out to eat. The perp is in the room, these guys are supposed to tape the action and arrest the client, so they take off for coffee and a donut. Bad cop, no donut. In this case bad cop, wife gets a facial.

The premise and the set-up was done well enough ... the downfall of this tale, which gives credence to the opinions of others, is that the police would leave the woman without someone watching her. That would seem to be elementary police work, though it might make the writer's job more difficult to maintain the interest of the reader.
