He could still taste her sweetness and feel her slender hips rocking across his face. The way that she had switched from reluctance to enjoyment had been spectacular. Her body had surrendered beautifully to his ministrations but the surprising part to him had been what had followed. He had expected her to have returned to her usual frisky self after their encounter but she had been so compliant. Granted, she must have been anticipating a meal but still it was very unlike her normal pattern of behavior to actually obey.

Was she really so easily placated by sexual attentions? It would explain her encounter with a swine like Jake certainly. Lindsay was not the kind of woman, in his opinion, to settle for a man with such a flat personality as that shark in a suit unless she was truly desperate for an orgasm. It ruined her for him a bit to imagine her as been so crudely needy. Perhaps it was time for him to slow down and learn more about how she thought. He had been so focused up to this point on her surface emotions, fear and fight. You idiot, you have her right where you want her. A few more mindfucks like earlier and you'll have her begging to cum!

He ignored the monster's roar. It had been right about many things, but he wanted to go deeper than her surface and her flesh. If her body was all that he had wanted, he could have taken it by now. He wanted her devotion, perhaps even her affection as impossible as it sounded, and that wasn't going to come from orgasms..

Lady had made her way out of the water and was grazing near the shore. Chad stood and approached her, patting her flank as he passed it. "How did you do it, girl? How did you decide that I, of all people, was the one you should be with?" Lady ignored him and continued to munch on her grass. He sighed, remounted his steed, and set off in the direction of home.

He rode Lady all of the way into her stall before dismounting. He removed her halter and closed her gate before he noticed that Lindsay was no longer on her bed. Chad hung the halter and walked toward her stall to find her sitting cross-legged on the ground. She watched him with a large and eerie grin on her face. It was... wicked.

He opened the gate and entered with the intention of binding her wrists before she got any ideas but heard a loud crunch with his first step. He looked down and saw the plate of food he had left behind smashed underneath his boot. He straightened and stared at Lindsay whose smile had vanished.

"Gee, thanks. I was planning on eating that later," she told him bitterly.

He hesitated, not sure what she was up to, before responding, "I'm quite certain that I told you it would be in your best interest to refrain from speaking out of turn, girl."

"You did," Lindsay shrugged. "But I don't very much care what you think is in my best interest. Especially when it lands me in a place like this." She gestured to their surroundings.

Annoyance bubbling up inside of him, Chad backed out of the stall and reached for the crop on the wall. As he did so, Lindsay stood and brushed bits of straw from her legs. She squared her shoulders and poised herself like a dancer, leveling her gaze directly into his eyes. He moved in closer and circled her, stopping abruptly behind her. He reached out to finger the knot at the back of her harness where the suspension rope had been reattached.

Lindsay glanced back over her shoulder, "How'd I do?"

Chad snapped and cracked the crop across her hip, but the she barely reacted. Instead, she stuck the opposite hip in his direction and asked coyly, "Would you like to even it out?"

Without hesitation, he loosed the whip a second time on the side she had offered, putting a little more force behind it. She winced, but didn't jump. She centered her weight once more and stared straight ahead of her. "Feel better?" she murmured so that he could barely hear.

It took him aback. No, he responded silently. He walked towards the gate, bent to pick up the remnants of the broken plate and ruined meal, and exited the stall. He locked it behind him, hung the crop back in its place, and departed. He didn't feel better at all.

***

As the barn door closed behind the cowboy, Lindsay let out a deep breath. She'd done it. As far as she was concerned, she had won that battle. She examined the welt forming quickly on her hip; it was certainly the worst yet. But oh boy, was it worth it! She had two minor blemishes to show for having the last word.

Lindsay felt a resurgence of power and confidence that she'd been lacking since... her makeover? Or maybe ever? It may have taken her a few days, but she'd found her fight and it wasn't with half-hearted physical struggles. If he wanted to wage war on her mind, she was going to play it right back at him.

That's right, cowboy. Game fuckin' on!

Feedback round two...

Thank you all for your comments! I really really enjoy hearing your thoughts and encouragement and I hope that you continue to leave them.

Anon "wow" - Thank you for your kind words! Stick with it and I promise that you won't be disappointed.

Kalideva - Thank you! I really want to try and convey the behind the scenes thoughts of the so called 'villains' in the non con section. I think that the trouble for me has been trying to understand it myself so it means so much that it is coming across as realistic.

Anon "Excellent writing" - I had never considered that but I will certainly look into it. I have had an idea that is going to carry this story into a much longer, potentially novella page count. I'm ecstatic to hear that you think it's good enough to make the cut!

Chapter 7 update: I'm hoping to finish the chapter tomorrow (knock on wood) which would mean sending it off to the editor on Tuesday or Wednesday. Depending on her schedule it could be posted as early as next weekend. We shall see though. I'll let you all know when I send it off to LaGrish. If you haven't left a comment yet, please do! I want to hear what you have to say about it.

Much love.

loved it

Strong Lindsay is my hero! Thanks for another great chapter. Your ability to write complex characters and get inside the psychology that drives people to commit such atrocities, and also to survive them, is admirable and insightful. More please!

Feedback round one...

First of all, I'm so grateful to all of you who are taking the time to share your thoughts with me through comments and emails. It really is the best part of my day, reading what you have to say.

@elise - thank you for the compliment, I'm glad that you're enjoying it.

@anon - I'm glad that you like her, I'm quite fond of Lindsay as well! Haha

@masterfuljim - it's wonderful to see you back again for more of TBAF. I hope that we continue to please you.

@findmyway - it's hard sometimes to keep the balance of logic and reason in a situation like this but I wanted Lindsay to have an element of truth to her so I'm glad that you are feeling that.

@anon - I understand where you are coming from and if you continue to read the story as it comes out, I don't think you will be disappointed!

Chapter 7 is still rough and I need a few weeks on it, but the wait certainly won't be as long this time!

Much love.

Well written

Your writing is very good. Your characters are well realized for this forum. I hope you continue to write.

What follows is a bit of a rant I just need to get off my mind. Sorry. Stop reading now if you'll be offended by my personal opinion about the fictional characters and fantasy world you create.

Fantasy psychopaths who kidnap women, train them to their desires and make them cum are never painted by their authors as the truly evil people they are. His wealth and good looks allow him license that someone ordinary, poor or short or ugly or fat or any permutation thereof would never be permitted. I find this very disturbing, and yet your writing draws me in and invests me in the characters and their fate.

I cannot help but hope (vainly, I'm sure) that she won't end up with a man who thinks a woman shouldn't speak without permission from her big "strong" slave master (strong is in quotes because any man who needs to kidnap and break a woman has no true strength).

I'll only add that however you decide to create your world's psychology, in the real world he cannot force her to yield her mind to him without utterly destroying it. She has to give it freely - and she cannot give it to him in these circumstances. He would have, at best, a facsimile of a relationship - but nothing true. And, that, fundamentally, is why I have trouble accepting stories like this - where the presumed outcome is her falling for him and only realizing her true self through the horror he puts her through. It is never a true relationship no matter what HEA an author may pen - and by "true" I mean true to real life circumstances - which this isn't and isn't intended to be.

So, if we can have wizards and vampires and werewolves (oh my) we can have a world with a fantasy psychology that allows a woman to be aroused by a situation that would engender only terror and have her fall for her abuser because he awakens her "true self" that thrives on the activities he introduces her to. Never mind that submission can only ever be a gift granted to someone worthy of trust. This guy will never be worthy. He fucked himself. But in fantasy world he gets to profit from his crime. I accept that even though it makes me angry.

In my mind she wins. He loses. Everything. I'd rather the story were more along the lines of "To Break a Cowboy." A girl can dream, can't she?

Thanks for sharing your talent.

Keep her strong

Great chapter. I love her inner strength and her ability to refocus and think through the situation logically. Please keep her strength and focused on the end game.
