They made idle talk for about thirty minutes – where they were from, what school was like, and such. He made an effort to keep his eyes from feasting on her body, so tantalizingly close yet so far away. As they were about to drift off to sleep Emily asked "Richard, Margaret says you are a good kisser. Would you kiss me just once?"
Richard reached behind her back to pull her a little closer and kissed her softly – the kind of kiss he imagined she would like. She smiled at him, closed her eyes, and was dead to the world in moments. He tried to imagine what was in store for him in the morning, but soon mercifully drifted off to sleep also.
