"I am sure..."

"Think whatever you want." Brandon snapped, getting closer to him. "But if you can cooperate with me then he can help you. Are you willing to do that?"

The Colonel looked at Brandon, wondering what Miguel could do to get him out of that place. He was really confused and he needed to get out of that place very soon. He needed to go out there. He took a deep sigh and nodded.

"Good!"

An evil grin appeared on Brandon's face as he looked at the stupid man who didn't know what was gonna come next for him. He was really happy.

Alex was seated in his house, reading a magazine about business. He was really happy, looking sexy and lovely in a dark short and yellow t-shirt. His son was at school and he was with his wife. They had made love the entire morning and now he was relaxing in the living room.

Laura came in the living room and kissed her husband. She then took the TV remote and switched it on to see what was new. As a reporter, she needed to keep up to date with everything that was going on in the media.

"Oh my God..." Laura gasped as soon as she saw what was on the news.

"What is it?" Alex dropped the magazine and looked at his wife. "Is there anything wrong?"

Laura looked at her husband and then pointed at the TV. "I am just surprised at what I am seeing. Can you imagine how people pretend to be generous and now he has been arrested."

"What?"

The moment Alex's eyes rested on the TV, he simply froze. His heart immediately started pounding deeper in his chest. His breaths became harsh... blood started running through his entire body, feeling as if he was being poisoned. His eyes widened, almost popping out of their sockets. His mouth gaped and he was gasping.

Alex was really scared when he read the news on TV that Hector had been arrested over illegal dealings. He didn't know why he got scared but he was really scared and had no idea what to do. His fear was just on another level.

Laura looked at her husband and she couldn't understand what the hell was going on. He looked scared and she got worried as well. From what she knew, her husband never knew the Colonel so it got her wondering why he acted the way he did.

"My love," She rubbed him on his cheeks.

"Y...yes!" He stammered, trying to control himself.

"Why do you look like that?" Alex was really busted. "Do you know the colonel from anywhere or..."

"What?" He gasped, feeling as if his long secret had just come out. "Are you crazy? I don't know who that man is." He chuckled nervously, trying to look confident. "I am just surprised that men like him..." He gulped, smiling. He was nervous as fuck. "...can do things like that."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes!" Alex took Laura's hands and planted a kiss on them, getting her mind away. "I don't know that Colonel character."

"Okay." Laura kissed her husband. "Anyway, I was just thinking about Miguel and..."

Alejandro felt at peace when Laura dropped the topic. For a moment he was so scared that she was gonna grill him but he thanked his lucky stars she didn't. But he was still worried about Hector but God knows he didn't want to risk his life to go see him. It was better the way things were.

Miguel was in his office, trying to work out some things that needed his signature. He got a surprise when Carter came inside the room, smiling softly at Miguel. Miguel stopped what he was doing and looked at the shy looking Carter who was coming towards him. He was dressed beautifully and Miguel smiled at him.

"Carter!" He chuckled nervously, pointing towards the chair. "Why don't you take a seat?"

"Thank you." Carter sat down, admiring Miguel's look. He was always so sexy and presentable and Carter couldn't help but admire him. His red hair was on point and his face was just too gorgeous. But he was also jealous of that man.

Miguel moved his chair closer to the table. "How may I help you, Carter?" He asked.

Carter took a deep sigh. It had been almost a week since he had promised Miguel he would think about his offer and he hadn't shown up. Now he had just come suddenly and he was hoping Miguel was gonna understand him.

"I... I have come to take up your offer if it's still available." He said abruptly, giving a not so sure smile.

Hearing Carter's words, Miguel laughed, just shaking his head. "You are really funny Carter." He teased, taking a deep sigh. "It's been almost a week since you promised you would think about my offer." Carter knew now that it was too late. "But the offer is still available."

"Really?" Carter gasped, covering his mouth in happiness. Then he lost his smile and sighed. He had no idea if he had made the right decision by taking an offer from his rival. "But I am afraid, sir..." He gave a gloomy sigh.

"Afraid?" Miguel couldn't understand what Carter was trying to say to him. "Why are you afraid?"

"I don't know." He babbled, feeling his mouth shake. "I am afraid I am not cut out for this type of job."

Miguel smiled at him, trying to make him feel better. "I understand what you are trying to say, Carter." He totally understood him. "You might not have been to school and might not have degrees but you are honest and loyal." He said sincerely. "That to me matters the most, Carter."

Miguel took a deep sigh and remembered his life from years ago. "When I was very young..." He seriously had no idea why he was telling Carter that. "...no one helped me when I needed help the most. I had to suffer most of my life."

"What?" Carter couldn't believe what Miguel had just told him. He was shocked and he looked at Miguel with awe. "You mean a man like you has needed help before in your life?"

Miguel could remember from many years ago when his parents died how he had needed help although he was really rich. His uncle had helped him but after he too had been killed, Miguel's situation had gotten even worse. Remembering the past was painful and it almost made him cry but he wasn't gonna do that.

"Yes!" he nodded, rubbing on his hands. "If I had someone who had helped me, maybe my life would be much less difficult." If only he had another family member. "But anyway, forget about that. You shouldn't worry about what you are gonna do without a degree. What matters is that you have gotten the job, Carter."

"Yes!" carter acted as if he had just won a jackpot. He forgot that Miguel was even his rival for a second. Now he was gonna be working with the great La don himself. Nothing could be as good as that. "I can't believe this. Thank you so much." He extended his hand.

Miguel shook Carter's hand and he remembered just how happily Carter had shaken his hand the first time they had met at the construction site. He was really happy about that.

"You deserve it."

"Thank you." But then Carter remembered something else and he was hoping Miguel was gonna grant it to him. "Please, La don..." He gasped, hoping he was gonna agree. "...can you also help Iris? Please, consider her. She might be of great help too."

"Err..." Miguel was hesitant because he had nothing for Iris. He just wanted Carter.

"Please," Carter put his hands together. "Iris also needs this job because right now she had no parents. Her parents had been killed two years ago and she only lives with Lawrence as her support. It would really help her right now."

Miguel was touched when he heard Iris' case. He remembered how it felt to lose parents and out of the inexplicable affection he felt for Carter...

"Okay!" He raised his hands as if he was surrendering. "You can come with her to assist in the house and then I will see how things go from there."

"Really?" Carter enthused. He would have asked for Lawrence too but knowing Lawrence, Carter was sure that he was gonna reject the offer and insult Miguel in the process. "Thank you so much." He covered his mouth, quickly getting up from the chair. "You will not be disappointed."

"Yes!"

"I have to go and tell her the good news."

With a loud laugh, carter quickly rushed out of the room and left. Miguel could still hear his wonderful laughs and he had no idea why that made him really happy. It was as if carter had some effect on him that he was yet to find out. Who was Carter?

Miguel shook his head and continued with his important work. He continued working until Tania came inside and told him that there was a man that wanted to see him, an old man. Miguel was really confused and wondered what business he had with the old man but he told Tania to let the old man inside.

Tania left and it wasn't long before an old man, well not that old came inside the office. The man was tall, a bit fat and he had strands of white hair. He must have been in his early 50s or mid 50s by the way he was looking like. He was dressed in a pink shirt and black trouser with red shoes, ordinary shoes. He also had a grey coat on him.

Seeing the man, Miguel got the surprise of his life. He wasn't surprised because he saw the man. He was surprised because of the way the man was looking at him. It was as if Miguel had done something bad to him because he was probably mad at him. It was shocking.

"Welcome to my office, sir." He said, looking at him from head to toe. "I was told you are here looking for me so how may I help you."

"So you are La don?" The man chuckled bitterly, giving him angry eyes. "I have seen you on social media and newspapers but I have definitely not come face to face with you.'

"Err... yes," Miguel frowned. "I am he and how may I help you? As you can see... I am doing something really important and..."

"So you are the boy that people have been talking about, the boy that has taken some land by force." He chuckled angrily, looking at the surprised Miguel. "You are also the boy that is in my son's life, uh?"

"Excuse me!" Miguel furiously got up, trying to understand what the man was telling him. "Look, sir, I already told you I am a very busy man. Who are you and what do you want in my office."

The man chuckled teasingly, shaking his head. Miguel's mood was getting ruined and he was sure that the man had come to cause trouble.

"My name is Pablo Palmer and that man, Christian is my son."

Hearing what Pablo had just said, Miguel got really surprised at first. His heart started racing. But then he chuckled happily and smiled. Then he slowly moved from his desk and went to the angry looking man, who by the way he didn't know why he was angry. He stood in front of him and looked at him without losing that smile on his face.

"Really?" he smirked, rubbing on his temple.

"Yes!" he said harshly, surprising Miguel even more. "I am Christian's uncle and I love that man like my own son. I came here to warn you to stay the hell away from him."

"Warn me?" Miguel chuckled in mock. "Really?"

"Yes! I know how manipulative and cunning you are. I know you very well." He said angrily, pointing at Miguel. "What the hell do you want from my family?"

Hearing that question, an evil grin appeared on Miguel's face as he got closer to the man, looking in his eyes.

What was his response going to be?

***

Yvette was in tears, rubbing her hands on the grave... Angelo's grave. Her entire face was flooded by her tears and she was in so much pain as she looked at his grave. She was crying and anyone that saw her would have definitely pitied her.

Yvette had been coming to that grave any free time she got ever since she had been shown. She was in pain every time she came to the grave. The first time she had been alone and she cried at her brother's grave, pleading for his forgiveness. She had pleaded with her sister in law and her other brother. It had been painful.

Yvette had spent the entire day at that grave the first time she had come and she cried her eyes out. She had apologized for all the things that she had done to her brother and sister in law and had confessed it all. She had also cried at Angelo's grave, begging him to forgive her for not being there for him and everything that she did in the past.

Now she had come back and she had started at her brother's grave and was now at her nephew's grave. Tears had flooded her face and she had a terrible pain in her heart because of what was inside it. It was really painful and although she somehow felt at peace after seeing their graves, she still asked for forgiveness.

"I am really sorry, my son." She apologized, passing her hands on the grave as more tears flooded her face. "It's because of me that you died early. Because of what I did in the past... I made you go away at such an early age. If I could only turn back the hands of time then I would make sure I sacrifice my life for you. You would have been happier but I probably started all this and now..." She sobbed uncontrollably. "...you are gone and I never even got the chance to see your beautiful face. It's my fault."

Yvette cried and cried for a number of minutes before she finally stopped. She took some flowers and added them to the many she had been bringing for Angelo almost every day. She kissed the grave and then got up.

She cleaned her face and looked at the person that she was with, Alicia. Alicia quickly rubbed her tears because she too was in so much pain over Angelo's death. But she had let the real person who deserved to cry be. It was really painful.

"I am sorry about that." Yvette apologized, rubbing her tears. "I didn't mean to take so long. It's just that I can't help it."

"It's really okay." Alicia patted on her back, looking at the decorated grave. "It's over a month now that I showed you this grave and though we don't usually come together... I can tell that you usually come here and you cry a lot too."

"Yes!" Yvette sobbed, feeling more tears building in her eyes. "I never realized how much pain I had caused until now, Alicia." A tear went down her cheeks. "I had caused so much pain. I wish I go back to the past and make my wrongs correct."

"The past is the past." Alicia assured. "I am sure your brother now forgives you. I will admit that Angelo had suffered quite a lot. There were times when he wished he had a sibling." She sighed, rubbing her tears. "We shouldn't be talking about the past. It hurts but at least one member of the family is still alive... you." She smiled at Alicia. "You might have lost all the properties because he gave them all to his husband but you are still alive and you also have the family name. That's what matters."

Yvette looked at Alicia and she burst into tears. She felt really guilty, dirty and evil. Her heart was bleeding and her conscience was eating her up. There was just a lot that was in her mind. She began crying again.

"Do you remember that time when you had asked me why I was so concerned about these graves?" She asked, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Yes!" Alicia smiled.

"Well," She chuckled painfully, rubbing her tears but they came even more. "A long time ago, after my sister in law had a miscarriage..." She cried. "...I was so happy and thought she deserved it because I caused that miscarriage."

Alicia slightly closed her eyes and rubbed her tears. "Yvette, I don't think we should be talking about..."

"No!" Yvette looked at Alicia, shaking her head. "You are like family, Alicia. I want to confess to you so that I can be at peace." She gulped and continued her story, crying like a little baby. "My brother at that time was so mad at me but he still forgave me because I was his little sister. But I continued my plot and hoped that she wasn't gonna have any child. I wanted to cheat my brother out of his wealth but when both my brothers found out..."

Yvette travelled to the past and she remembered how everything had been that fateful day.

"I don't want you in my life." Her brother had said angrily, pointing at her. "Even a witch doesn't attack her own home but you are plotting to destroy me and kill me." He yelled in her face, gripping her arm angrily.

"Brother, please..." Yvette had pleaded. "...I didn't mean to cause this. I didn't know what..."

"Shut the fuck up!" Her brother had yelled, putting pressure on her hand. She cried out in pain. "Do you know because of you that someone is dead? Do you know that I have lost so much because of you." He finally let go, pushing her hard to the floor. "I had thought you were gonna change but an evil woman who kills and destroys can never change." Then he had said something even more intense. "I have always been a supportive brother. I have forgiven all your past mistakes but today... I am gonna destroy something."

"Please..."

"From now on..." He groaned, trembling in anger. "...I break all ties with you. You are no longer my sister or I your brother. I break everything that I have with you because I cannot have such an evil sister. You will go far from here and if I see you anywhere near me or my family... then you will know that I am an evil man as well. Get out."

Yvette came back to reality and she was in tears.

"...I went to my other brother but he had already broken ties with me." She cried. "I was thrown out but I vowed to cause so much pain to him, something that would hurt him more. I went away but I made sure I kept an eye on him so when I heard that his wife was... was..." She paused and cried. "...was pregnant with another child, I knew I had another opportunity to make him pay for what he had done to me and..."

"Yvette!" Alicia's eyes widened. "Don't tell me you are the one that had killed that child after it was born 27 years ago?"

"I am sorry." She cried at the top of her.

"What kind of woman are you?" Alicia snapped, shaking her head. "Angelo had been yearning for a brother but I never realized you killed him and..."

"Alicia, please..."

"No!" Alicia moved away. "I forgave you but..."

"You don't understand anything, Alicia." Yvette yelled in her pain. "I didn't kill the child." She snapped, looking at her as more tears left her. "When I heard that my sister in law had given birth... I went and stole the child and replaced it with a dead child." She yelled in pain. "I wanted revenge so I stole the child and caused my brother pain by thinking that his child was dead. That is the reason why I came back here."

Alicia felt a cold wind blow all over her face. Tears poured down on their own... her heart felt cold and hurt... her breaths stopped for a second and her entire body shook in pain and coldness. She looked at Yvette, trying to relive what she had just said.

"W... what?"

"Yes!" Yvette cried at the top of her voice. "I stole the child."

Hearing her, Alicia gripped her arms tightly and said, "Did you kill that child?"

Alicia cried weakly, shaking her head. "That child is still alive. My sister in law started appearing in my dreams and I knew I had to bring back the child to Angelo and confess everything. But it was too late because..."

"Where is he?" Alicia snarled, applying pressure on those arms. "Tell me!" She yelled. "I need to see that child."

"He is with me." She cried softly. "When I stole him, I escaped to a place where I wouldn't ever be heard from him again. I raised him as my son and I love him so much and..."

"Where is he?" Alicia was both happy and mad.

"His name is... is..." Yvette was now trembling in fear. "...Carter Russel and he is at my house. He is my son and I love him."

"Carter!" Alicia loosened her grip on the woman. She felt weak and cold. She was able to feel the pain at least go away since Angelo's death. "Carter!" She gasped.

What is gonna happen now?
