"Wow Lexi that was amazing! I can't believe that was the first time you've ever sung in public!".

Ashley turned to face them looking astonished & called for quiet before asking,

"Lexi, did I just hear Harmony say that was the first time you'd ever sung in front of anyone else?",

Lexi turned & with a shy look on her face said quietly,

"Yeah.".

Lexi's response was met with gasps & more applause before Ashley replied now with a look of sheer amazement on her face,

"Wow, that's incredible! It was so good I'd just assumed you must have lots of experience.".

Eventually everyone settled down ready for the final performance which was to be given by Poppy, the pink haired girl gave a display of moderately impressive gymnastic moves, she did cartwheels, summersaults, handstands & star jumps, she did them all well but the general opinion seemed to be that none of it was all that difficult. The judges seemed to take longer to consider how to score Poppy than for the others & eventually they decided on: Michelle 5, Rachel 5, Taylor 7, Zara 7 & Ashley 7.

When the applause died down Ashley & Taylor walked over to the bar, as Taylor went behind it to update the overall pledge scores Ashley announced the results of that challenge,

"Firstly I want to say well done to all of you, most of those performances were pretty good especially as you didn't get long to practice. The obvious winner was Lexi who gets the full 10 points added to her overall score, second was Catalina, third Harmony, fourth Poppy, fifth Amber & sixth Jess. Lunch will be delivered in about fifteen minutes so pledges you need to be back in here by then to help put it out, the rest of you should be back half an hour from now when the meal will be ready. Then the next pledge challenge will start at 2.30 & I want you all in here whilst that one's going on.".

Before everyone got up to leave Taylor spoke up,

"So after the talent contest Harmony has extended her lead overall with 77 points, Lexi has moved into second with 67, Poppy has 66, Amber has 52, Catalina has 49 & Jess has 29.".

Harmony was shocked at the realisation that she now had a massive 25 point lead over fourth place & only believed it when the whiteboard was turned back to face out at everyone. Lunch was uneventful as were clearing up after the meal & the half an hour the pledges then had free before the next challenge. When they returned to the party room at 2.30 Cassie joined the pledges on a row of seven chairs & everyone was sat in the same rows they had been in for the previous task except for Ashley, Taylor, Michelle, Zara, Rachel & Scarla. Taylor was stood by the bar but Ashley & the other four weren't in the room. When all six pledges had sat by Cassie they were addressed by Taylor,

"Hi girls, for this afternoon's task you will have to use both intelligence & speed. You are going to have to solve a number of clues as fast as possible to eventually find a star. You have to solve the clues in the right order & to make sure you do so a sorority sister is in the same room as each of them. I can give you all a few extra clues before we start, you won't need to leave the house, go into any bedrooms or go onto any of the balconies. Once I've finished explaining about the task you will all go to guest room 1 to wait & when each of you finish you will return here to the party room. We are keeping you apart from those who compete after you as the clues will be the same for all of you so we don't want any of you giving another girl a bit of help! Lexi, Cassie will be running for you but you will be able to tell her where to go, I'll explain how when it's your turn. Lastly you should be aware that all staircases have a crash mat at their foot in case anyone trips.".

Taylor walked the girls into guest room one but called Amber back out of the room, she led the Asian girl to the sorority president's office where they both stood by its open door. Taylor pressed something on the intercom & confirmed that Ashley could hear her, then she counted down from three & when she reached zero she pressed the buzzer on the intercom with one hand & handed Amber the first clue with the other.

None of the other pledges knew what was happening elsewhere in the house so just sat around waiting for news, Harmony was chatting with Cassie, Lexi & Poppy, Jess was sat silently looking at nothing in particular & Catalina was doing one of her favourite things, admiring herself in a mirror. Finally after what seemed like a very long time the girls heard Taylor's voice come over the intercom announcing that Amber had finished the task in 16 minutes & 18 seconds.

A minute or so later Taylor reappeared at the door & told Catalina to follow her. The Colombian American girl's turn started in the same way as Amber's but she proved a little more successful completing the challenge in 15 minutes & 58 seconds.

Harmony was ready when Taylor called her into the hallway, the sorority vice president led her to the president's office & when she was ready handed her the first clue at the same time as pressing the buzzer to start the time. Harmony looked down & read,

"Pockets are a good place to keep keys or condoms but a pocket you can't move is only suitable for rounder objects.".

Harmony went to move but then realised she had no idea where to go so she read the clue again & tried to think of what had pockets, she was sure it wasn't to do with clothing so she thought quickly about what was where in the house & suddenly an idea struck her & she sprinted to the games room. Harmony hurried downstairs jumping the last few stairs as she went, she ran across & pulled open the door to the large equipment cupboard & found Michelle sprawled on top of the remaining crash mats. Harmony read the clue as soon as it was free & this time it didn't ring a bell inside her head,

As she walked to the top of the stairs rereading it she tried to think what would make a splash, she just stood there for at least thirty seconds sounding out the words in her head before she finally reached an answer. Harmony sprinted back down to the ground floor & this time headed down the alternative route to the basement. She ran straight past the gym & the showers & into the swimming pool area, she was convinced that the clue had been a play on words so climbed the diving board & after crawling along it desperately searching for the piece of card she sought the blonde reached a hand over the end & felt a surge of relief as her fingers closed around the clue that was taped to the end of the board. Harmony peeled the card off & sat there reading it & then rereading it,

"You should always kneel to your superiors, even when they're relaxing."

Harmony had no idea so looked up & shook her head to try & clear her confusion, out of the corner of her eye she spotted Zara sat at the edge of the pool watching her & went to look away as she didn't want to get distracted but then her eyes flashed back to the red head. She had been trying to think of who were her superiors & it had just dawned on her that the only one of the girls missing from the party room she hadn't seen near a clue was Ashley, the sorority president, so she must be the superior it referred to.

Harmony still didn't know where she was going but she was sure Ashley wouldn't be anywhere near the clue she had just found so she hurried back down the diving board steps & ran as fast as she could back to the ground floor. A little while later she was proved right as Jess's time was announced over the intercom as 21 minutes & 3 seconds.

Poppy went next as Taylor explained over the intercom that she wanted to do Lexi last as her turn would be the most complicated. Harmony started to feel hopeful as several minutes seemed to tick away before finally Poppy's time was announced as 14 minutes & 22 seconds. When the pink haired girl came down to the party room to join the other pledges she looked more annoyed than Harmony had previously seen her, as she took a seat Poppy exclaimed loudly,

"I can't believe it, that last clue took me four or five minutes. Even when I figured out where Ashley was I couldn't find that stupid star!".

At that point Taylor called Harmony out to help her with something, after telling her not to say a word about the clues she led her to guest room 1 where Lexi & Cassie were still waiting. Taylor opened a box & took out what Harmony recognised as a Wi-Fi headset which she handed to Cassie before clipping a small wireless microphone to the top of the first year's top.

"If the equipment I've got here works Lexi you will be able to hear Cassie talking on the microphone I've just clipped to her & she will be able to hear you on the wireless headphones I've just handed her." Taylor explained.

Taylor handed Lexi a device which she explained was both a receiver & a transmitter, she had already locked it on the on position so in theory she would be able to both hear & be heard by Cassie. To test this Taylor took Cassie to the president's office whilst Harmony stayed with Lexi as the blind girl & her assistant for this task attempted to communicate with each other. Once it was clear it was all working Taylor sent Harmony back to the party room telling Lexi that she would come in & sit with her during the task once she had set Cassie on her way.

It was clear to everyone a few minutes later that the equipment had worked as Taylor had intended due to the fact that Lexi's time was announced as 12 minutes & 59 seconds which meant she had won the task. After Taylor had removed the microphone & taken the headset back Lexi gave Cassie a massive hug thanking her for how fast she'd been. When the two smiling girls had joined everyone else in the party room Ashley spoke to them all,

"Well done everyone for completing the challenge & congratulations to Lexi for winning the task with a little help from Cassie. Harmony took second, Poppy was third, Catalina fourth, Amber fifth & Jess sixth. I've already worked out the updated overall scores whilst I was waiting for Cassie to find the star, Harmony still leads with 84, Lexi is on 77, Poppy has 71, Amber 53, Catalina 52 & Jess 29.".

Ashley paused to let everyone take in the scores whilst Taylor finished updating them on the whiteboard, when she felt long enough had passed the sorority president continued,

"As you all know the pledging process will have finished by Saturday but I'm still not going to tell you how many tasks are left. Jess I know you are a long way behind right now but don't give up, anything can still happen such as one of the top three getting themselves disqualified or deciding to leave. Thanks to you all for your patience during this challenge, pledges go & get showered & into clean pledge robes & be back in hear at 5.45 to help put out the food for dinner which will be at 6pm.".

Taylor sent Amber to guest room 2 so there would be three girls to shower in each room, as it was only 4.30 there was no particular hurry so Harmony & Lexi lay on the bed chatting so Poppy could have a very long shower. Harmony was next in but she was interrupted almost as soon as she had adjusted the water to the temperature she wanted.

Harmony heard a knock on the bathroom door which opened a second later before closing again, hearing the click of the door lock she peaked around the shower curtain & saw Rebecca looking back at her with a scowl on her face.

"Your friends have just put some music on & I told them I needed to ask you about something so they won't hear us or wonder about what I'm doing in here." Rebecca explained this in a cold irritable voice.

Harmony turned off the water & quickly grabbed a towel which she wrapped around her middle as she stepped out of the shower,

"Princess Rebecca, I know you're probably really annoyed at me for choosing to spend last night with Britney rather than you. I only did it because I made a deal with her when she helped me win the hunt the cunt task." Seeing Rebecca's expression was still stony she continued,

"I'm so sorry.",

"We won't be having a pledge challenge as such this evening but we will be playing a number of smaller games worth a few points. These will start at 8 o'clock in the meeting room so pledges you'll have around an hour free after you've done the washing up & cleared the tables.".

The pledges spent that hour in a number of different ways, Amber watched TV, Catalina lifted some weights in the basement gym where she was accompanied by Poppy who spent some time on a running machine & then an exercise bike. Harmony & Lexi went for a swim with Lexi having her own lane in the pool so she couldn't crash into the other girls who were using the pool at the same time. Lastly Jess was on the first floor balcony having her first spliff for a couple of days.

At 7.45 Harmony & Lexi said goodbye to Scarla & two second years who were staying in the pool, took quick showers to wash off the swimming pool smell from their skin & hair & made it to the meeting room just about on time. When all six pledges had arrived Ashley told them that the first game was going to be a tug of war worth two points each to the winning team. The girls with the lowest overall scores, Jess & Catalina, were allowed to take turns picking their teams which left Poppy & Harmony with Jess whilst Amber & Lexi were with Catalina.
